About
Hello, I’m Zahra Abdalla!
I am half Iranian and half Sudanese and I was born in London, England. I consider myself a modern day Bedouin; as a child I lived a very typical expat life and was blessed with the opportunity to live, experience, and become a locale of different cities around the world. I have had the luxury of calling Khartoum, Riyadh, Athens, Sacramento, London, Windsor, Vancouver, Toronto and Dubai home.
Food is my artistry, therapy, and joy
I love to cook, I love to eat food and more importantly I love to feed people. Food has always been an important aspect of my life; certain scents, flavours, recipes and traditions offer comforting and nostalgic memories. Now that I have my own young family I am keen to create those same happy moments for my children. In addition to my obsession with food, I love to travel, listen to Latino music, stay fit and collect art.
This blog is my creative outlet to share new recipes, family stories and my travel adventures. I hope you enjoy my culinary journey.
My family
I am married to a wonderful Jordanian man; he is my rock, my number one fan and the father of my three beautiful little boys. My home is my working studio where I can make delicious traditional Arabic and Iranian food that have been passed on from one generation to another, and where I also get to play around and improvise in the kitchen and develop modern interpretation of Middle Eastern cuisine.
