Celebrating 40 Radiant Years: A Memorable Tulum-Inspired Birthday Bash
There’s something truly special about milestone birthdays. They mark a chapter in our lives filled with wisdom, growth, and endless possibilities. My sister Zeina’s 40th birthday was one such milestone, and it was a celebration that I eagerly awaited. With a Tulum-inspired theme, we transformed her home into a warm and welcoming oasis, immersing ourselves in the neutral tones and vibrant vibes that make Tulum so captivating. Every detail, from the decor to the delectable food, was carefully curated with the help of our dear friends Burcak and Elif, the founders and creative magicians behind Treeberries Event. They did an incredible job of turning this milestone into an unforgettable evening of joy and laughter.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow across the venue, we stepped into a world inspired by the magical allure of Tulum. The decor exuded an inviting ambience, embracing earthy tones and natural elements. From rustic wooden furniture adorned with plush cushions to dreamy string lights suspended overhead, every aspect contributed to an atmosphere of pure enchantment.
No celebration is complete without indulging in a feast that tantalises the taste buds. For my sister’s birthday, we sought the help of Maiz Taco, a homegrown food concept created by my dear friend Luma Makhlouf serving authentic Mexican cuisine. Their menu was an exquisite blend of flavours and textures!!
To kick off the culinary journey, homemade guacamole and salsa took center stage, inviting guests to savour the freshness of ripe avocados and zesty tomatoes. The chicken quesadillas, bursting with tender, seasoned meat and melty cheese, were a crowd favourite. As for me, the sweet potato quesadillas stole my heart with their delectable combination of earthy sweetness, savoury goodness and a subtle spicy kick. The evening was also peppered with flavorful beef and fish tacos that delighted even the most discerning palates.
Dessert was a celebration in itself, with churros taking the spotlight. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and generously dusted with cinnamon sugar, these treats transported us to the vibrant streets of Tulum. With each bite, we were reminded of the joy and simple pleasures that life offers.
To keep our guests refreshed, we had a House of Pop cart, offering an array of delightful popsicles. The vibrant colours and refreshing flavours provided a cool respite from the warm evening, allowing everyone to indulge in their favourite icy treats.
But perhaps the true highlight of the evening was my sister Samaa, who took on the role of DJ for the night. As her infectious beats filled the air, we danced beneath a sky painted in hues of pink and orange, captivated by the enchanting sunset backdrop. Laughter and joy reverberated throughout the celebration, creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
My sister’s 40th birthday was a celebration of her radiant spirit and the incredible journey she has undertaken. The Tulum-inspired theme created an atmosphere of warmth, tranquillity, and joy. With the help of our talented friends, we curated an evening filled with delectable food, sweet indulgences, and a soundtrack that kept our feet moving. As we bid farewell to this milestone celebration, we carry with us the laughter, the love, and the beautiful memories that were woven into the fabric of this special night.
